Story

As some of you may know on the 20th February Tala, Alex, Amelia and I are participating in the Rottnest Channel Swim. We are using this as an opportunity to raise money for the Stroke Foundation. Tala suffered a stroke at the age of 13 whilst in the water at surf club and lost movement of the right side of her body. Luckily, after ongoing rehabilitation and lots of hard work she made a close to full recovery. The stroke foundation aims to prevent, treat and beat stroke by raising awareness within the community, improving treatment and expanding research. One stroke occurs every 9 minutes in Australia and 80% of these strokes could be prevented through lifestyle choices. This is why we’re choosing to raise money through our swim, to promote a healthy and active lifestyle which is one of the largest preventable measures.
